Stem Cell Program Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Cornell Stem Cell Program recognizes and acknowledges the long standing issues of inequity in this country, in the sciences, and within our institution. We all have an obligation to do better, and as such, the CSCP commits to being a part of the solution by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in science through the following concrete actions described below:

  1. Invited speakers for seminars, symposiums, and retreats will represent scientists of diverse gender and ethnic backgrounds.
  2. Seed funding grants will encourage and promote research projects that address health disparities in underrepresented communities.
  3. Travel funding grants will encourage and prioritize attendance at research conferences that focus on health disparities in underrepresented communities.
  4. The SCP will communicate with members to request input in order to understand how it can better support the members of our community and these initiatives.

More information regarding Cornell University’s actions to address these issues can be found here. We encourage and welcome any input that will help us continue to improve our program in regards to diversity and inclusion. Please send any relevant comments and/or suggestions to our Program Coordinator Elena Cestero at ec443@cornell.edu.
