In addition to routine pathology services supporting animal phenotyping for stem cell research projects, the Stem Cell Pathology Unit provides a critical link between animal modeling and intravital and histopathological analysis. Specifically, pathologists offer advice on selection of the most appropriate animal strains suitable for particular studies at the time of experimental design of genetically modified animals. Please see the service schedule below to identify the pathologist on service. Pathology support can be requested during initial interactions with the personnel of the Stem Cell and Transgenics Core Facility or by directly contacting pathologists of the Stem Cell Pathology Unit. Pathologists are also available for interactions with the Core Stem Cell Optical Imaging Unit, thereby allowing direct comparative analysis of intravital findings with anatomical and histological lesions.
Additional functions of Stem Cell Pathology Unit are:
1) Preparation and analysis of virtual histological slides
2) Development of stem cell pathology methods
3) Development of stem cell pathology as a discipline
The efforts of the Unit are complemented by the Diagnostic Histology Laboratory and the Immunopathology Research and Development Laboratory
