Bioinformatics Services

The Core has a dedicated bioinformatician offering a wide range of data analysis services to NYS Stem Cell Consortium members and other Cornell University researchers. The analysis services handle heterogeneous biological data including high-throughput next generation sequencing (NGS) data, microarray gene expression data and genotyping data. The focus is on the genomics and epigenomics data mining and integration, and custom bioinformatics analysis of other types of data. These services are provided as fee-for-service, grant application and publication support, and experimental design and consultation.

Data Analysis
• Provide high/low throughput sequencing, microarray and proteomic data analysis.
• Genomics: NGS Sequence Alignment, SNP and indel discovery. De novo genome and transcriptome assembly.
• Genomics: Comparative Genomic Hybridization Array (aCGH) / Copy Number Variation (CNV).
• Epigenomics: ChIP-Seq, DNA Methylation.
• Transcriptomics: RNA-Seq, Microarray.
• Functional Genomics: Pathway and functional analysis (Ingenuity Pathway Tools).

Consultation
• Help investigators to frame research questions and identify bioinformatics solutions.
• Letters of support for grant applications and help with grant proposals.

Scientific Cooperation
• We are interested to engage in collaborative projects and other types of scientific cooperation.

Custom Development
• Customized solutions to investigators' particular bioinformatics problems.

Data Management
• CBSU's massive storage resources with convenient data access system management can be provided for a fee.

We work closely with the Computational Biology Service Unit at Cornell University (CBSU), part of Life Science Core Laboratories Center (CLC). And we have full access to the CBSU expertise and computation infrastructures.

Current Service Rates

The core is supported by New York State grant for stem cell research, so service to such stem cell projects are subsided to offer at much lower rates than other bioinformatics service cores (ICB, CBSU).
